Media was great knowledge used. i also learned advertising about the entertaining career, something I have wanted to do forever. This first semester, I also took psychology, we learned some things about behavior modification and conditioning . I felt really surprised when I saw a connection with the two. In behavior modification, you pretty much train someone to do the things you want or act way you want .Its the same thing with media and advertising you train the person your targeting to become hooked or think about the product your targeting.

It's very ironic that advertisement has been around for so long and has been used for the same strategic purpose, to sell a product by playing on the the consumers wants, emotions, and beliefs. Before ads of ipods were used to show success and gain popularity(or at least make the targets believe that's what they would get if they purchased one. )They were used (ads of course.) to get people to buy items like boats by using the "pursuit of happiness" as a slogan.

It sucks that stereotypes of men and women can be seen everywhere. It is so annoying with the stereotypes of both sides. A man makes on average a dollar for every fifty-nine cents a woman makes in the same field. Not because they're more qualified, have better skill, or are more talented. They make more because media portrays a man to be more efficient workers. Man are always seen as emotionally detached and strong, making it easier for them to overcome physical tasks. While women are usually used to show or bring out emotion by showing their elegance and fragile nature, implying that they are much more preferred to do duties of nurture and housework. This commonly placed depiction of the gender roles can be identified everywhere concerning media. Unfortunately it determines a lot .

Patriotism vs. Journalism

When it comes down to it, I believe journalism is never an unbias job. When 9/11 occurred it was tragic, one of the worse events that has occurred in american history, but by not putting things about it in the newspaper we couldn't deal.I don't think any american journalist could do their job and write about 9/11 without some kind of bias. It kind of sucks how juxtaposed it was for them but it was kind of cruel to disregard the feelings of the people who lost their families and suffered . I think the best thing they could have done as journalists is talk more about why what happened happened and less about what happened.

Media in normal sense can be defined as any medium which keeps you informed.Different media we see in normal life are news papers,electronic media like television, and internet. The people of the media are said to be the most powerful people in the lives of their consumers today. They do give people the information of whats going an around them so that they can make choices effecting how they percieve things in the world. My question is however, are they doing a good job

The other day while watching MTV the advertisement for Rock Band II appeared on T.V.. Even during My favorite T.V. show(Fringe is awesome!)Rock Band II was the most frequently advertised commercial. I fell victim to the advertising. I turned my television on that day for what initially set out to be a weekly dose of new wave scientific creepiness unintentionally turned into a full on battle with my younger siblings for the PS2 so that I could jam on to the emo theme song Creep by featured artist Radiohead. It's crazy ,you'd think media lit would have taught me not become game nerd because I see a commercial on T.V. ... Anyway I think I was drawn more to the game because I actually play guitar ... or maybe this is just me making an excuse so that I don't come off as the illiterate zombies we talk about in media lit . Who cares Rock Band is where it's at !!!
